What is the Report Tooltip Page?

Table of Contents

In a Power BI report, the tooltip page acts as though it were a separate page in the report that will be opened for any user when he or she hovers on any visual. It will work for elaboration on the concept, including references to other materials, or even having an interactive chart within the visualization. Power BI allows users to fix these hovers so that they do not have to rely on standard pop-ups and instead have their tooltips over the data points.

To create a report tooltip page.

  1. Create a new page and set the page type to “Tooltip” (if on-object interaction is enabled).
  2. Or, turn on “Allow use as a Tooltip” on the page.
  3.  Add content to the page.

On the page where you want to use the tooltip, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the visual and navigate to the Format pane.
  2. Click on General or Properties(if on-object interaction is enabled).
  3. Turn on the tooltip.
  4. Click on Type and choose Report Page.
  5. Select the page you created as the tooltip.
