How can I add a constant or Average/Constant Line in my visual?

In the Analytics pane (or under the Reference Lines section in the Visual Format pane) on-object interactions Use the Constant Line option to add a constant line or average line to your visual.

How to Add a Constant Line (if not using on-object interaction) in Power BI:


Choose the visual onto which you want to add the constant line.
In the right-side pane of Visualizations, click Analytics to spread out the available options. Depending on relevance, other types such as Y-axis constant line, Min line, Max line, Average line, Median line, Percentile line, and Error bars may be available.
Choose Constant Line. Either use Fixed value for a constant line or select Fx to enter a measure. Use an Average measure for an average line.
Click Add Line and set the value for the line, as well as its color, transparency, style, position, and other format settings.

  • When using on-object interaction, follow these steps:
  • Click on the visual and, from the three more dots that appear, select Format.
  • Navigate to the Format Pane.
  • Click on Visual and scroll down.
  • Under the Reference Line section, click on Add Line.
  • Choose the line type—Constant Line, Average Line, and the like.
  • Set its value, color, transparency, style, position (and other formatting options if available) as required.
