A Power BI dashboard is a single-page, interactive view that uses visualizations to tell a story. It acts as a canvas made up of tiles, which are visual elements pinned from reports by designers. Dashboards are streamlined, presenting only the most essential information, while providing links to related reports for more detailed exploration.
Often, users confuse Power BI reports or report pages with dashboards. However, in Power BI, dashboards can only be created in the Power BI service and can pull data from multiple reports.
Dashboards are exclusive to the Power BI service and cannot be created in Power BI Desktop. They offer customization options to highlight key insights through visualizations.
